We seek oustanding individuals who are uncompromisingly Christian in testimony and lifestyle, and who will make the care and discipling of students and cooperative teamwork with other staff the passion of each school year. DPCA Administrator Opening:
The men and women of the school board at Darren Patterson Christian Academy (DPCA) are looking to hire a new administrator for our school. DPCA is a very unique school, and we need a unique person to fill the role as administrator. DPCA is located in the small mountain town of Buena Vista, that is in Chaffee County, Colorado. Buena Vista sits at about 8,000 feet, surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery the State has to offer. Just out the back door of our school, the Collegiate Peaks mountain range rises up over the landscape, reminding us of the mighty works of our Lord's hands. Buena Vista is also at the heart of some of the best hunting, camping, white water rafting, and fishing in the State. DPCA is the only Christian school in this area of Colorado, and the next closest Christian schools are in the metro areas of Denver and Colorado Springs, both about 90 miles away. Additionally, DPCA offers an excellent experiential learning program called Ekklesia Mountain High (EMH), that combines approximately 40 days of wilderness and adventure experience with traditional academic work to provide a school year that challenges and develops our student's faith, leadership skills, willingness to serve others, perseverance, and vision.
Darren Patterson Christian Academy is an excellent example of God's redeeming work in the face of daunting pain and loss. Fourteen year-old Darren James (DJ) Patterson was killed in a car accident on Thanksgiving Day 1981. Sometime prior to his death, DJ had expressed an interest in attending a Christian school; none was available in Buena Vista at that time. The Academy, created in Darren's memory and bearing his name, was begun in the fall of 1982 to honor Darren's desire for Christian education. God has sustained DPCA over the past 34 years. DPCA is not a large school, but we currently have grades pre-school through 12th grade. Currently, we have about 15 full time faculty members, and 125 students. DPCA equips students for excellence in Christian life and service by providing a nurturing, distinctively Christian school environment that emphasizes knowing Christ, imitating His character, integrating the Bible in all of life and learning, mastering academic knowledge and skills, and affirming the uniqueness of each child.
As a school board, we are looking for an administrator who is a strong leader, and who can exemplify the leadership values set forth in God's Holy Word. We are looking for an administrator who lives by faith, and who seeks God's will in all parts of any decision making process. The school board at DPCA makes all of its decisions through prayer and study of the scriptures, for we believe that God gives us answers to all our questions, and guidance in all our decisions, through His Word. We are seeking an administrator who can join us as a strong, spiritual leader, in the important leadership decisions that must be made on a daily basis.
In this modern world, any Christian school is unique, and should be a city on a hill. However, a small Christian school in a small town is confronted by unique challenges involving enrollment, tuition, personnel, academics, technology, student issues, policy issues, and finances. We are looking for an administrator who can be a loving and selfless leader to DPCA, and help our school navigate these areas, and who has the heart of a servant to support our awesome staff and students.
Clear, well-articulated Christian testimony and lifestyle, evidence of consistent good moral character, and evidence of regular church attendance.
Agreement with DPCA's vision, mission, purposes, philosophy of education, policies, and Statement of Faith (that can be viewed under the "About" section on our website at dpcaweb.org).
Minimum, a Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a focus on education.
Previous experience: Previous experience working in schools is preferred, especially experience in administrative roles, and Christian school experience is a plus.
